Yosemite

June 2 - June 6, 2009

Breakfast on the way out of the Grand Canyon (McDonalds).

It's a long way baby.

But is is a pretty drive.

Finally, we made it to California Yall.

And, you still see the strangest things on the freeway.
An Amphicar. A Car and A BOAT. (note the propellers in the back)

AT LAST - Fish Camp - the last town south of Yosemite.

Getting Closer

And, We're THERE.

The first view of the VALLEY. Tunnel View. It's named for the fact that you have just come out of a tunnel and you have this view. Clever.
El Capitan is to your left. Half Dome is in the middle and Bridalveil Falls is on the right.

Half Dome - the icon of the park.

The next morning, breakfast in the Lodge Cafeteria.

We decided to ride to Tioga Pass and try to get to Mono Lake. The weather (SLEET, SNOW, and in general rain) made us turn around about 2 miles beyond the pass.

Retreat - going back to the park.

My Stig photo in front of Yosemite Falls (at the lodge).

The Ansel Adams Studio store.

Curry Village Campground.

Yosemite Falls at the Lodge.

We took the tour of the valley floor (highly recommended).
Merced River and the valley.

Hi Josh.
AFWS.

And ANOTHER (Bridalveil)

Half Dome from Ahwahnee Meadow (twice)

Relief map of the park. The finger is on Half Dome.

Taking pictures just outside our room.

The House Squirrel.

Our room at the lodge - lower floor.

Inside the room.

The next day - it's off to Glacier Point.
Can you say SNOW?

Here is what we should be seeing.

Well, not so much.

Half Dome sort of peeked out of the clouds.

As did the valley floor. the Ahwahnee  hotel is in the forground.

Then - it was on the way to the Wawona Hotel for our last 2 nights in the park.

And this view from just outside our room.

The dining room. How the other half lives.

CAN YOU IMAGINE how much it costs to do a wedding here?

The start of the hike to Mariposa Grove.

Grizzly Giant
